How To Join The process for joining the fraternity is a simple one. There are two methods, Formal Recruitment and Open Recruitment. This chapter, as well as the others on the Interfraternity Council, strongly encourage everyone to go through Formal Recruitment. Formal Recruitment begins on the third week of every fall semester at Delta State. During the weeks leading up to that, there are sign-up sheets near the entrance of the Student Union, manned by four members of the Interfraternity Council Chapters. The fee that the IFC asks for formal recruitment is $20. It must be paid before signing up for Formal Recruitment. For those unable to attend Formal Recruitment, Open Recruitment is available, where someone may join the fraternity without going through the Formal Recruitment process by simply showing interest and signing the bid that the chapter extends, but still paying the $20 fee to the Interfraternity Council. Only a limited number of bids can be offered during Open Recruitment. Open Recruitment begins the Monday after Formal Recruitment and lasts for about a week, depending on what the Interfraternity Council decides.
