Chapter does third annual mass Mills Music Mission
By Andrew Owen
Over
the weekend of April 11, 2010, the chapter participated in a large Mills
Music Mission around the Memphis area. Similarly to
the Mills Music Mission of 2009, the chapter did not just sing in one place, but in several.
Traveling in a caravan, the six brothers drove to Memphis, where they sang at the Ashton Rehabilitation. They then sang at the Graceland Rehabilitation Center. Following that, they drove to Southaven, where they sang at the Golden Living Center, where
it sang familiar songs to and with the residents there, then visited
with them for a while. After that visit, the six drove to the
Landmark Desoto Retirement Home, where it did the same thing. After spending about an hour
at Landmark, the six drove to the home of Brother
Christopher Tate (Theta Upsilon '80) in Forrest City, Arkansas, where they enjoyed a great evening of
fraternal interaction, including a discussion about the Mission. They also sang at the Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
Many brothers admitted that it was a very moving musical experience. The Mills Music Mission will continue to be a beloved
activity of the chapter, and it hopes that the mission brought as
much joy to the residents as it did to them. |
